Virtual Engagements

SG Calendar

We find ourselves in a liminal space, as we leave a familiar world and move into the unknown.  Our aim at Space in the Gap is to provide virtual gathering spaces as well as brick and mortar ones, sometimes in a collaborative “dance.” Through our calendar we offer space to share our networks, explore possibilities, create new opportunities, and to find and forge new ways to connect and spend time together apart.

All virtual engagements are:

  • participatory
  • produced, co-produced or hosted by Space in the Gap, their partners/ collaborators, and by those present
  • occurring in virtual space primarily using zoom

Seven types of events are offered (click on titles for further information):

Cafes are typically 90 minutes long.  You can drop in at any time during the call. Custom breakouts are available so you can move into small groups as desired with whomever you choose, or on any topic you wish. Hosts will post a menu of options for each event. Menu item examples include: portfolio reviews, artist studio visits, interviews, care circles, karaoke, or topical conversations. Cafes happen on a regular schedule or can occur spontaneously. Cafes are a place to connect, network, and hang out.

Collaboratory is for creative projects or performances  initiated  and co-created by community members, which could result in a celebratory presentation event for our entire community.

Wellness/ Healing Arts is where one can offer or experience creative practices that promote healing, wellness, coping, transformation and personal change. Traditional healing arts including music, art, dance/movement, poetry/writing, ceremonies, celebrations, community rituals, and meditation.

Marketplace is for exploring creative businesses in our network.

Workshop/Classes is self-explanatory. Most will participate in the gift economy, a few are ticketed and may include scholarships.

Field Trips are visits to events whose producers have not programmed with Space in the Gap.

Open Space  uses the protocols of Open Space Technology to self-organize online meetings on our communities’ interests, passions, talents, and energies.
